Elementary Camp

This summer, NextGen Kids Ministry will be taking a group of elementary students, going into 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade, to El Porvenir Christian Camp in Montezuma, NM from July 22nd – July 26th of 2019.

At El Porvenir we have: Worship Time – Biblical Teachings in Chapel and Outdoors – Full Food Service – Sleeping Cabins – Rock Climbing Wall – Archery Range – Camp Fires – Big Wall Rappelling – Guided Hikes – Beautiful Views 

HOW TO REGISTER:

  1. Register for camp by clicking HERE.
  2. Select the ‘Elementary Camp’ option click ‘sign up’
  3. You will need to create an account to register anyone in your family. (The good news is if you have multiple kids, or go to an adult retreat later, you can use the same log in.)
  4. After you add an attendee, you need to register as a Valley View camper in the ‘Ticket Packages’ box.
  5. Click ‘Have a Coupon?’ and enter JACKRABBIT then click Apply.
  6. Choose your price: running a nonprofit church camp costs a lot. You can pay the rate that you are comfortable with.
      • The full rate is meant to represent the true cost of this event.
      • The partner rate is 10% subsidized by supporter donations.
      • The historical rate is 25% subsidized by supporter donations.
  7. The ‘ELM Church Sponsorship’  box is what you need to check if you want to have Valley View pay $140.50 of your camper’s cost.
  8. Finish filling out the dietary and medical information for the camp and sign.
  9. Click ‘Continue’ when done with this screen.
      • *You can come back and change how much you chose to pay or complete the medical release information after registering your child up to the day of camp.*
  10. In addition to the camp registration, Valley View needs to have a permission slip/medical release form filled out before we go to camp.

  • *Anyone who doesn’t register by July 7th  will be charged $25 extra.

2019 Middle School Camp

Students going into the 6th grade to 2019 8th grade can sign up and attend this years Middle School Camp at El Porvinor Christian Camp located outside the beautiful mountain town of Las Vegas, New Mexico. At Middle School camp students will be challenged in the journey with Jesus and be called to live a life differently for the sake of the Gospel. This challenge will change your life! We cannot wait to experience this change with you, so sign up today!

FAQ

Where do I sleep at the Camp?

Everyone stays in bunk houses. The guys and girls will each have separate houses. Some boys bunk houses will have bathroom and shower facilities in an adjacent building. Shower flip flops will be appropriate to wear.

What will we be eating while at the Camp?

You’ll eat at the dining hall on campus. Meals are served cafeteria style. Everyone gets to choose their food from available choices they want. Typical meals include hamburgers, chicken tenders, pasta, pulled pork sandwiches, tacos, etc. Every breakfast will have a cereal bar/yogurt/fruit. Every lunch and dinner will have a salad bar.

The cost for each meal is included in the cost of the event.

How do I spend my days at the Camp?

Everyday there will be:

    • A morning session and evening session
    • Individual devotion time, youth group time and small group time
    • Organized recreational times

Sometime during the week you will have the opportunity to enjoy:

    • Ropes course
    • Repelling
    • Paintball
    • Archery
    • Guided Hike

June 16 – Leave VVCC at 12:30pm… 3 pm Arrive at El Porvenir Camps.

June 21 – Leave El Porvenir at 8:30am…. 11am Arrive in Edgewood, NM

How much does it cost?

Our event costs $320

    • Price Includes: Travel, Camp, And Most Meals.
    • Bring extra $ for: 1 meal, Camp Merchandise (T-Shirt, Water bottles, etc.), and anything extra you might want.

CAMP RULES

  1. Respect others and yourself.
  2. No guys in girl’s cabin and vice versa.
  3. Alcohol , tobacco, drugs and weapons are absolutely prohibited
  4. Everyone must be in their cabins by the designated “In Cabin Time”.
  5. Follow the schedule.  Be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there. 
  6. During sessions, pay attention. Remember why you are at camp. 
  7. Do not leave the Chapel once the speakers begin talking. 
  8. Respect the camp – no TP, water balloons, shaving cream, sidewalk chalk, etc.  No practical jokes!
  9. Do not move furniture.
  10. Absolutely no fireworks at any time during camp or while on camp property.
  11. Students may leave camp ONLY with adult supervision; those staying behind must have an adult present.
  12. Follow the dress guidelines.

You’ll eat at the dining hall on campus. They offer a lot of choices for each meal. The cost for each meal is included in the cost of the event.

How do I spend my days at the Camp?

Everyday there will be:

    • A morning session and evening session
    • Individual demotion time, youth group time and small group time
    • Free time! You can choose to join a pick-up basketball game, take a nap, or hang out with your friends!

On one of the days we have extended recreation time! During this time, we can take advantage of all the amenities Fort Lewis College has as well as have an opportunity to walk the historic main street of Durango. There are shops, boutiques, and restaurants.

  5. For security reasons, no students with backpacks are allowed into the auditorium or cafeteria.
  6. Follow the schedule.  Be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there. 
  7. During sessions, stay in your assigned seating.  Please follow the posted seating chart. 
  8. Do not leave the auditorium once the speakers begin talking. 
  9. Respect the campus – no TP, water balloons, shaving cream, sidewalk chalk, etc.  No practical jokes!
  10. Do not move furniture as you will be charged for any assessed damage.
  11. Do not dial 911 unless it is a true emergency.
  12. Absolutely no fireworks at any time during MOVE or while on campus property.
